Here’s what you need to know

Will I be an Independent Contractor? Am I part of a Host Agency?

Well, a bit of both in fact. Dream Vacations is a franchise model, the franchise industry terminology includes franchises as being a host agency model. Each independently owned franchise agency can choose to include independent contractors (Dream Vacations Advisors) to be affiliated with their franchise agency. So, you are considered an independent contractor, that is part of a franchise/host agency business model.

Do I have to sell a certain amount? How much will I earn?

As a whole, we do not have any sales requirements so you can sell as little or as much as you want. With that said, we recommend you set goals for yourself and work with your franchise owner mentor to reach those goals. Ultimately, how much you earn is entirely up to you. The more you sell, the more you earn as you will earn commissions with each sale.

What if I have questions or need help?

We don’t expect you to be an expert in selling vacations right away, and that’s why you have a built-in support system. As part of a franchise agency, your franchise owner will act as your mentor as well as other advisors who may be part of the franchise agency. Plus, the Dream Vacations headquarters support team offers unlimited training and resources found on our Business Center and Learning Center – you’ll have a wealth of knowledge, training and support at your fingertips.

What is the cost and what does it include?

  • The fee is $39 monthly. You will pay your fee to your mentor, your Franchise Owner.
  • The Dream Vacations Advisor program is designed to enable its independent travel advisors to do exactly that – SELL.
  • Dream Vacations maintains all of the required industry memberships and certifications on your behalf. Advisors who reside in Florida or California will have to register with the state and pay a small seller of travel fee to the state.
  • Affiliation with an accredited national brand without incurring the expenses associated with maintaining a business.
  • Registration for the initial training and all ongoing training is free to advisors (optional ongoing specialized training events may require travel and additional fees)
  • Use of the Dream Vacations brand name and logo
  • Personalized Dream Vacations mobile-friendly consumer-facing booking website
  • Weekly marketing and promotional emails, sent on your behalf
  • Web-based CRM, reservation, and financial system – Cruise Control
  • A complete intranet – Business Center
  • Access to free marketing programs (auto-social program, quarterly sweepstakes, and more)
  • Errors & omissions (E&O) liability insurance ($1,000,000/year)
  • 24/7 on-demand Learning Center
  • Private Facebook group support from your peers
  • Access to Travel Advisor free or reduced rate travel with our travel suppliers

Will I be an employee of Dream Vacations?

No. You will be an independent contractor, doing business as Dream Vacations and receive commission on your sales.

Will I be entitled to deduct expenses from my earnings?

Maybe. Please see your tax adviser to discuss what applicable business expenses may be deducted, such as the cost of equipment purchases, certain educational expenses such as traveling to discover new products and destinations, and claiming a home office deduction.

Are there any territory restrictions placed on me?

No. You may book vacations for customers all over the country/world. Generally, our contracts with cruise lines and resorts allow for us to book US and Canadian residents. However, some cruise lines and resorts also allow bookings to anyone internationally. Note that bookings cannot be made for anyone from the following countries: Cuba, Iran, Syria, Sudan, and North Korea.

What kind of office equipment do I need?

The great thing is, your office can be anywhere – your home, the beach or on a hiking trail – as long as you have an internet connection you can be selling vacations through your very own booking website. All bookings made through your website are tracked back to you and your commissions – it’s as easy as that! Most popular internet browsers are supported.

How do I get paid the commissions that I earn?

Dream Vacations processes incoming commission checks to our franchise owners weekly, upon receipt of the commission from the cruise line or other vacation vendor, normally at the time final payment is received. Dream Vacations makes all payments directly to franchise owners, and then franchise owners pay their advisors their commission split.

Are there any other opportunities to earn income from each sale?

Absolutely! You can earn commissions by offering travel protection, shore excursions, pre-and-post hotel, consolidated airfare and other optional features. Plus, sales are not restricted to cruise vacations. You can also sell hotels, all-inclusive resorts, land vacations, independent tours, escorted tours, travel insurance, and more.
